Wahlberg terrified when he saw his new sci-fi chiller The Happening
ACTOR Mark Wahlberg said he was petrified when he first saw the finished cut of his new sci-fi thriller The Happening, released on Friday, June 13 - a date chosen by the studio to fit its eerie mood. More significantly, it also means the movie will go toe-to-toe with The Incredible Hulk.
Wahlberg told the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross chat show, on the UK’s BBC1 channel, that director M. Night Shymalan was waiting outside the auditorium when he viewed the completed movie. He told Ross: “I went out and starting choking him. It scared the living s**t out of me!” (Read full story …)

‘The Happening’ Gets an Extended Clip and Negative Buzz
An extended clip from M. Night Shyamalan’s new film The Happening is now online (watch it above or in higher quality over on Yahoo), with an introduction from M. Night himself saying how he was inspired by films like The Godfather and The Exorcist. What we get are snippets of scenes we’ve seen previously from the trailers, as well as the extended version of the train scene when Mark Wahlberg walks up to those conductors and says, “With whom?” (I love that part and I don’t know why.) This is M. Night’s first R-rated film, and he claims it’s “the scariest movie he’s ever made.” I guess we’ll see about that. (Read full story …)
The Happening: New Clip And Image
Okay, so we’ve got action, adventure, comedy and costumed characters up the wazzoo this year, but where are the movies to appease hardcore horror fans? Well, fright-master M. Night Shyamalan has the problem in hand with his latest shocker, the apocalyptic-tinged The Happening.
A real end-of-the-world terror tale, it’s shaping up to be a genuine event - if only to discover what the bloody hell is going on and why people across the world are simultaneously dropping dead.
A superbly creepy new video hit the Net today (see below), in which the writer/director introduces a clip from his latest flick and you can get a flavour of how the whole human extinction drama will unfold. What’s more, we have an new exclusive image of Mark Wahlberg looking confused (enlarge thumbnail below) and if that’s not enough, come back to Empire on Monday morning to check out another exclusive in the form of an ‘inspiration’ featurette which goes some way to unravelling M.
