Oliver Stone’s “W.,” a film biography of George W. Bush, debuted at No. 4.

Wahlberg plays maverick cop Max Payne who is hell-bent on revenge against those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. His obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmarish journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.

But that doesn’t mean he’s fishing for career advice from the guy. Because as Wahlberg related, when he saw his ucpoming weapons-toting hero Max Payne in the editing room, “I was like, ‘Yes! This is the sh-t I need to be doing! This is the stuff that makes people say, ‘You know what, you’re the man!’ This is it!’”

Which brings us to M. Night’s probably ill-fated recommendation. “[Night] gave me the worst advice he could have ever given me. He said, ‘After [‘The Happening’], you can never hold a gun again. You know that, right?’ I said, ‘Are you crazy?’ He said, ‘I’m serious, don’t ever hold a gun again.’ And I said, ‘I don’t know about that, man.’”

That advice wouldn’t work very well for “Max Payne,” considering it’s probably more about guns than people (although Wahlberg has called Payne the most complex character he’s every played) or the proposed “Departed 2,” if one imagines a movie that looks and feels nothing like “The Departed.”

Call it a challenge met and exceeded, Ludacris told MTV News of a similar scene in the upcoming “Max Payne,” where the artist sometimes known as Chris Bridges gets to have his way with Wahlberg’s good cop turned vigilante.

“I’m the internal affairs investigator, Jim Bravura, and I’m just hounding Max Payne. Crazy thing about that is, whenever you see Mark Wahlberg, he’s usually playing those dominate characters, so this is the time I’m the one who’s dominate,” Ludacris said of his favorite scene in the upcoming video game to movie adaptation. “I get to hound him. Trust me, it’s the best scene in the movie when I’m hounding the hell out of Mark Wahlberg because I’m the boss.”

In “Max Payne” — and especially in “Max Payne 2” — Bravura is a tangentially important character, the guy who eventually arrests Payne at the end of the first game, for instance, but one otherwise not glimpsed all that often. He’s also an old white dude with glasses.

As if it wasn’t obvious from the casting alone, Bravura will be much beefed up for the movie, Ludacris said.

“I’m on Max Payne’s heels the entire movie just trying to figure things out. As he figures things out, I’m kind of figuring things out too,” he said. “He’s bossing other people around. A lot of guys in the force don’t like him just because he’s always one step ahead of them. I love playing those aggressive roles.”

“I can shoot pretty well,” Kunis told Pop Tarts at last week’s Comic-Con convention San Diego. “I got to beat Mark up with my little gun, which was fun — he cried a little bit. I’m sure I saw a few tears.”

Wahlberg didn’t issue a denial, jokingly telling us later that Kunis “isn’t as nice as you would think; she likes to beat up on people.”

But it seems Wahlberg may have taken a bit of a dig at the likes of Brangelina, Jessica Alba and Matthew McConaughey, who all earned big bucks for shopping around snaps of their newborns (Brangie sells the pics for charity).

“There will be no selling of our baby pictures, no hoopla, nothing like that,” he commented after saying how excited he was about becoming a father for the third time in September.

But as for marriage, he and his long-time girlfriend Rhea have no plans set in stone.

“Every year we say we will, but it hasn’t happened yet,” Wahlberg said, adding that when it does it won’t be a big public deal, but they won’t pull a Mariah or Beyonce and wed in secrecy.

ET asked the “Entourage” executive producer if he’s going to the Emmys on September 21, and he revealed, “That’s our due date so we’ll see — it would be nice to go there, get the Emmy, and then from the Emmys go to the hospital and bring our little boy into the world!”

Mark and his longtime love Rhea Durham’s new baby boy will join their 2-year-old son, Michael, and their 4-year-old daughter, Ella.

Try a crowd of thousands of young fans at Comic-Con rapt with attention over his upcoming action thriller “Max Payne.”

Surprising too, considering that outside of the “Tomb Raider” movies, video game adaptations typically yield limited success.

“Max Payne” dares to throw its hat in the treacherous ring, though, with some popular actors in the lead roles: Mila Kunis, Ludacris and Mark Wahlberg.

Along with director John Moore, all were on hand for the movie’s panel. And the crowd’s reaction made Mark Wahlberg, in his own words, “all warm in the pants.”

Coming off of roles in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Happening,” respectively (and for Wahlberg, finishing up “The Lovely Bones”), Mila and Mark were both gung-ho about doing an all-out actioner.

Mila says she’s a gamer. Mark was just ready to “break some heads.”

Ludacris inspired loud applause, and got a lot of love from Wahlberg, who praised the rapper’s commitment, not only to the project, but to acting in general.
