ACTOR Mark Wahlberg said he was petrified when he first saw the finished cut of his new sci-fi thriller The Happening, released on Friday, June 13 - a date chosen by the studio to fit its eerie mood. More significantly, it also means the movie will go toe-to-toe with The Incredible Hulk.

Wahlberg told the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross chat show, on the UK’s BBC1 channel, that director M. Night Shymalan was waiting outside the auditorium when he viewed the completed movie. Mark Wahlberg and his daughter were seen doing some shopping at the Grove in L.A. Mark is very excited about his new upcoming film, “The Happening”. He was wearing a t-shirt which is very similar to his upcoming project, ‘The Fighter,’ which is in pre-production. In this film Mark plays “Irish” Mickey Ward. Business must be good to be throwing a twenty spot at the valet. Mark is o.k. in my books!

Dorchester thug-turned-Hollywood he-man Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming movie role as Lowell boxer “Irish” Micky Ward won’t start shooting until September - maybe - but it’s taken the Boston boy with bulging biceps two years to bulk up!

Marky, whose not-so-fancy fist work landed him in the Charles Street Jail back in the day, is now a student of the art of boxing and brought Men’s Health mag into his haute home gym - which sports a regulation ring - to tell all.

“I’ll be disappointed (if it doesn’t happen), because it’s been a dream of mine,” he tells the mag. “That’s a large part of why I built the gym, why I put that ring in there. ROBERT DOWNEY JR., STEVE CARELL, JACK BLACK, LINDSAY LOHAN, MARK WAHLBERG, SETH ROGEN, MEGAN FOX, JENNIFER HUDSON, ANNE HATHAWAY, JAMES FRANCO, RUMER WILLIS, BRENDAN FRASER and DANNY McBRIDE will all be on hand for the annual film fest, which takes a lighter look at the movie awards season with film in such categories as “Best Fight” and “Best Kiss.”

MIKE MYERS will host. Nominations were announced last week, with ‘Superbad’ and ‘Juno’ leading the pack with four noms each.

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Mark’s since his role in “Fear” so I was pleased when I saw that Steph had started this site. Unfortunately, Steph hadn’t updated the site since last year for reasons unknown so I asked if I could take the site.
